There are two ways for a programmer to establish an interactivity between a Website and his visitor:

#1 - To write his page by using "PHP", technology which allows him to build specific exchanges on the server before sending the page to be displayed on the "client" computer
#2 - To use JavaScript functions so that the client browser establishes itself the conditions of an interactivity with the server which accommodates the site.

A combination of these two techniques with language "XML" is already possible: that's how I proceeded to write the site San-Antonio or my own Website on which I give some useful advice while offering my services to develop sites such as STC Project Plus or For rent in De Panne (Belgium).
PHP Technology allows me, between a lot of others things, to show a visit counter and especially to update it while JavaScript provides, for instance, a button to the user to put a site in his favourites.

Certain users deactivate scripts because they read someplace that not very conscientious programmers use them for willful aims... In fact, it is not inexact but it is however necessary to consider two important elements:

#1 - The "security weakness" of browsers are regularly corrected by their providers. In this respect, it is useful to remember that regular updates of the operating system and softwares are necessary to the good functioning of computers especially when they are linked to Internet
#2 - There are in another way more dangerous methods than JavaScript to inject "badwares" of all kinds...

You can allow script execution without worries to visit the 4 sites which I offer as links on this page: I developed them therefore myself I am definitely at the right place to know that they are completely inoffensive. Two of them even do not send "Cookies" to the visitor, besides, I put a full stop of honour to never use this technology without informing the user of that and explaining him for what is intended this cookies.

In short: allow the execution of scripts is one of the necessary conditions to use entirely all possibilities given by the Web. It is not completely without danger but which risks nothing get nothing.
